Magic Plant

I received this plant for my birthday last year, when it was no bigger than my middle finger. A few months later, it sprouted one, bright pink, tiny flower. I was so excited as I hadn't paid much interest to the plant before that. But once the little flower died, the plant didn't sprout a new one. I thought it must have just been a fluke and left the plant to grow by itself. A few weeks ago, I noticed new little buds and more bright pink flowers. So once a year, this little succulent sprouts a few beautiful pink flowers and for the rest of the year, it stays in the shadows. what a lovely little Christmas Present.

Market Days

Living in Cape town, often makes it difficult to make dicisions. On a day like last Sunday, when the weather is perfect there is just so much to do.. Abby and I finally decided to go down to Hout Bay to visit the market with our new flat mate, Gemma. We had such a lovely time, made friends with people who fed us wine and champagne and laughed, a lot. On the way home, we stopped at Cosy Bay, lay on the rocks and soaked up what was left of the weekend sun. It was a perfect way to end a perfect weekend.

#theusuals

It has become a small tradition of ours to do these "#theusuals" nights. They are never planned but somehow each one is better than the last... We often get carried away and tweet all the moments we think are worth tweeting which often leaves us cringing the next day. Although, I wouldn't change that for a minute... [For obvious (or mysterious) reasons, I can not upload actual pictures of our nights. We would all die of embarrassment.]

Sunday In Simonstown

Last Sunday was one of those days where the whether was so beautiful, we couldn't decide what to do. Eventually, we chose to jump in the car and drive South. After a while we found ourselves in Simonstown. The Sun was shining and we could do anything. Our first stop was the Scratch Patch. Hundreds and thousands of gem stones just waiting to be found. Sitting amongst them felt so childlike, picking and choosing, changing minds and starting again... Then we set off to find ice-cream and walked to the harbour. We ended the day visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach and then drove home along Chapman's Peak, stopping to watch the sunset. Perfect.

Lovely Gifts

Honestly, I feel there is nothing more simple or special than a bunch of flowers to express one's self.
I received these gorgeous cream and pink roses a few weeks ago from a dear friend just because.

Home Sweet Home

A friend of mine phoned me one day asking when next I was going home. "Not for a while" I replied. She then told me how she needed to get to George somehow to go fetch her car. With this possibility of a fantastic Roadtrip, I changed plans and we set off for George that Friday. Here's what she wrote about the experience. My pictures are more of how lovely and complete it feels to be at home...

I went back about a month later to see my Mom and celebrate the second leg of my Birthday. We had a wonderful time at my friends River House along side the Kaaimans River. The house is completely secluded, surrounded by trees, water and mountains. It is breathtaking. When looked at from above, it sits right at the bottom of the map of Africa. A popular view point for tourists as the Kaaimans river cuts the mountain into the Shape of Africa..

The Loerie Weekend 2011

Last weekend was the 33rd annual Loerie Awards, the big advertising awards in South Africa. This industry can drink so as can be imagined, the weekend was messy. Saturday night's ceremony started with a bang for me as I won a silver campaign for my student entry. I'm so overwhelmed to have won and proud of my team-mates and myself.

The night rolled out with more awards for friends and collegues and ended with agency parties. Where there is
a tab, there will be a mess. A ripped dress and a rescuing were some of the highlights. Sunday night proved even
more eventful with David Hasselhof as the MC and a big afterparty at Trinity Club in Cape Town. After finding blurred photos and some drunken tweets, the pieces fell together and it seems like it was a good night.
