Something Special Happened Today

Today's been a strange one, work has been crazy since 8.30 this morning. It began to pour with rain as this incredible double rainbow appeared outside my office window. I've also found my new favourite song... Green Lights by Aloe Blacc. These things really lighten my mood as I get briefed for tomorrow's 11am presentation at 9 o'clock at night...

"Something special happened today,
I got green lights all the way.
With no big red sign to stop me,
no traffic jam delays."

Winter Sunrise

I really need to get my broken window fixed, it's obstructing my morning sunrise photos and I'm too scared
to open it in case all the glass falls out...

White Cats

House

This is how I feel most days, but today I actually have to work...
Oh how I love Dr House...

Dream House

I would trade my flat in a heartbeat to live here at The Burrow.

A Harry Kind Of Day

I was sent a link to this amazing Harry Potter site this morning and have spent the day storming through it and feeling filled with nostalgia. When I was working and couldn't be on the internet, I listened to the lovely Stephen Fry read me Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. It reminds me of that snowy Boxing Day in Northern Ireland when I was about 10 years old. I lay curled up in my bed, listening to Stephen read the first Harry Potter book on Radio 2 while I read along. It's funny to go back to book 1 after seeing the 8th movie about 2 weeks ago. I need to get a copy of the books so I can start them all over again. Maybe I'll go steal them from my mom's house...

Winter Sunrise, Monday Mornings

The weather has been shocking since yesterday. The South Easterly wind has rolled in and is so noisy, I barely slept. Also, in a tragic accident, my bedroom window burst open and now has two massive cracks from hitting the wall. I'm scared all the glass will fall out and I will have to sleep in the blizzard instead of safely inside.

I have decided that Monday's definitely have the strangest weather movements. Along with the beautiful sunrise this morning, there was a huge double rainbow framing Table Mountain. I think Monday brings out these spectacles so we don't hate him quite so much. It works for me..

Both pictures were taken through dirty, rain splattered windows, so excuse all the grain..

"By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world"

I've mentioned this song before but I still can't stop listening to it. I don't think I've heard anything more beautiful..

The Hardest Things To Say

"The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them - words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think.
When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller, but for want of an understanding ear."

~ Stephen King ~

"Up on melancholy hill, there's a plastic tree.
Are you here with me?
Just looking out on the day of another dream."

Winter Sunrise

I'm getting to the point where I loathe Fridays, there's just too much anxiety that floods my chest to handle at the moment. But, as with all winter sunrises, a beautiful view to greet me in the morning gives me a bit of hope that today won't be as bad as I think...

Penguin Love

Doodle Days

We've been having a lot of very long meetings these past few days. They tend to drag out a bit but it's always a great opportunity to get some doodling done...

I started yoga recently and I'm hooked. That's probably how it snuck into my doodles..

It doesn't get much better than this..
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.
The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
~ Nelson Mandela ~

A very Happy Birthday to Mr Nelson Mandela, a whopping 93 years young today...

"So they we are, an angel and a man. Both just standing there, with blood on our hands.
What are we gonna do now, this is what I thought, but before I could say it, the angel talked.
He said, "I'm in here for life anyway, you're only in here for five, I'll take the blame.
So go run now, don't feel ashamed." But oh Lord, I do, that's why I'm praying."

I love these monsters by John Kenn. It's my best find of the morning so far...

Running Cat

 This makes me smile..

Monday Blues

Mondays seem to always have the best sunrises. Now, I can't decide how I feel about this. Either, it makes me feel like the sun is mocking me on how crappy my life is every Monday, or it is trying to make me feel better as I roll out of bed for another long week at work. I actually think it's the latter, as despite the Monday gloom, the brilliant colours splashed across the sky do make me smile just a little...

Loerie Awards 2011

I just found out we got three finalists for this campaing we did last year... Whoop Whoop!

The Call Of The Wild

They have cradled you in custom, they have primed you with their preaching,
They have soaked you in convention through and through;
They have put you in a showcase; you're a credit to their teaching -
But can't you hear the Wild? - it's calling you.
Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us;
Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,
And the Wild is calling, calling...let us go.

~ The Call of the Wild (Last Verse) - Robert Service ~

I was doing a lot of quote searching the other day for a special friend's birthday, this is my other favourite after the C S Lewis one below...

Make Your Choice

Make your choice, adventurous stranger.
Strike the bell and bide the danger.
Or wonder 'til it drives you mad,
What would have followed, if you had.

~ The Magicians Nephew - C.S. Lewis ~

Paulo Coelho

Harry Potter Fever

My lovely friend Sarah, sent me this this morning in the hopes that it would put a smile on my face,
she was right, it did. Only two more days until Harry finale madness.....

Winter Sunrise

The funny thing about life is that no matter how horrible it has become, no matter how much you wish you hadn't woken up for a new day, a sunrise like this can put a smile on your face. Even if it is just for a second..

Winter Sunrise

Today's sunrise didn't have so many colours, but the band of gold was just memorizing...
